| Hi! Welcome to CineScope – I’m Jean-Baptiste de Vaulx, I’ve been lecturing on cinema for 5+ years and writing about it for 10+ years. I love the variety and diversity of the medium of cinema and try to share my enthusiasm on this site, covering a wide range of world cinemas from different eras. From commercial genre cinema to the experimental avant-garde, from Altman to Zanussi, from Art Theatre Guild to Zoetrope, from Arab cinema to Zambian cinema, and from the Lumière Brothers to the Coen Brothers, Cinescope is a widescreen panorama of cinema as an international mediua, across genres, eras and regions. There’s also a diversity of content. Some reviews are more like capsule reviews. Some are in the form of curated lists. Some are longer, more analytical essays. I’ve also made a few videos and video essays which I will continue to make more of in 2026!
