As I try to get back into the groove of writing longer pieces more regularly on here, I’ve decided to start up a new companion piece to CineScope over on Substack: a newsletter, which will aim to be around fortnightly, will remain free to subscribe to, and is known as the CineScope Dispatch! While this site will remain the place for longer pieces, and eventually more videos and perhaps even podcasts, over on Substack the CineScope Dispatch will share quick notes on new discoveries, repertory seasons (in London and around the UK), streaming and home video releases, or simply the films that happen to be on my radar that week. I’ll also occasionally give readers a preview of what I’m currently researching or writing about.
The CineScope Dispatch will complement the site rather than replace it. Expect:
- Fortnightly recommendations on what to see in UK cinemas, retrospectives, festivals, streaming, and home video
- Early previews of the essays I’m drafting for Cinescope
- Occasionally, my shorter takes on films (old, new, and rare discoveries) and on what I’ve recently been watching
